1. Do Something Kind
Although it may seem a little selfish to be kind and to do things for people less fortunate than yourself it can help you learn to love yourself. There are a few different ways but one of the best long-term ways to do something for others is to volunteer. If you want to do this choose a volunteer opportunity that suits you and your skill set. For example you could help a local swimming club make friends with an elderly man or use your marketing skills to promote a local charity.
If you think I dont have enough time to volunteer think again. Researchers at the University of Pennsylvanias Wahten School Harvard Business School and Yale School of Management find that people who volunteer have more time. So start looking for that perfect opportunity and once you find it youll instantly feel better about yourself.
2. Become Your Hero For The Day
If you don’t feel confident when you face something important like an interview or a speech pretending to be the hero of the day can give you the confidence you need. Drag it.
If you want to try it yourself, choose someone you can identify with and who you know you can trust. Then start working like them. You don’t have to speak with their accent or use their weird mannerisms but portraying your hero can have a surprisingly positive effect on your body language and tone of voice. This activity will help you successfully achieve what you set out to do and will help you feel good about yourself after this success.
3. Retrain Your Thoughts
How many times a day do you think negatively about yourself? Now ask yourself how many times a day do you compliment yourself? Negative thoughts about us are more than positive thoughts. Many of our subjects do this but this is unacceptable and should be changed.
A good way to change your behavior and learn to love yourself is to retrain your thinking. You can do this by following the negative thoughts you have about yourself with positive thoughts. For example if you tell yourself that you are too old or overweight follow this negative thought with something positive such as: Increasing the number of positive thoughts you have about yourself throughout the day will hopefully help you enjoy being yourself and help boost your self-esteem you.
4. Admit Your Flaws And Take Action
We all have flaws and that’s okay. It’s just something we have to accept. But some people have flaws that interfere with their lives and become a barrier between them and happiness. If you have a handicap that is a problem then it’s time to admit that you need to change.
You may be in a hurry have a food problem be extremely jealous or go through a difficult phase that is out of your control. Remember that you can only love yourself if working on your flaws and asking for help makes you feel a million times better about yourself no matter what.
5. Relationship Analysis
There are some in this life who are not one of us. If you have friends who are lovers girlfriends or colleagues who undermine you by respecting or simply accepting the problem you should consider addressing it and confronting them about their behavior.
This can be very difficult especially if it bothers you. Remember that no one has the right to put you down and the only way people will stop behaving this way is if they know you wont accept it. Dare to plan what you are going to say so that you can communicate clearly and then sit down and talk about the problem face to face. If the problem persists it may be time to consider cutting him out of your life completely.
Life is too short to waste on people that don’t make you feel good and hanging around with negative people will make it hard for you to love yourself.
Knowing the steps to do self love will make it easier to attain. Thank you for this information.
